India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) disclosed plans to establish two regulatory bodies—the Artificial Intelligence Governance Group (AIGG) and the Technology Policy and Ethics Committee (TPEC)—by December. The agencies will unify policymaking amid growing global concerns about malicious AI applications.

The initiative prioritizes developing an India-specific AI risk assessment framework before February's India AI Summit. Government officials emphasize inter-ministerial alignment on Core policies, with the summit serving as a progress checkpoint for governance implementation.
